How to get Permanent Relief from Dental Pain

Dental pain can be unbearable and is caused when a nerve in the tooth or the surrounding tissues gets infected. Tooth decay, tooth injury or loss of tooth cause dental pain, and the best way to get rid of the pain is by visiting a dentist on the double. Pain may also become palpable after an extraction. Bacterial growth in the mouth can also cause tooth-decay resulting in tooth pain. Most tooth pains vanish by flossing, brushing with fluoride toothpaste, or paying a visit to the doctor.

On succumbing to a tooth decay and the excruciating pain associated with it, you can try these home remedies, before having to face the dentist pronto. You could later appear at his clinic to get rid of tooth-decay, with doctor fast becoming the only saving grace at such times.

When dental pain comes calling, you can rinse your mouth with salt water as a first step in alleviating pain. Salt water has a detoxifying effect and in combination with warm water has a soothing effect on the toothache. Water intake with gargling can dislodge particles stuck in the teeth and provide temporary relief.

Next, you can use a cold compress if you observe a swelling on the face. You need to apply the cold compress to the side of the face that exhibits swelling and numb the pain temporarily. Do’s and don'ts exist here also such as avoiding placing the bare ice to the tooth directly which could permanently damage the root.

Applying clove oil also numbs tooth-ache as clove oil is known for its pain-alleviating properties. Clove oil is relatively inexpensive and is handy to have around at home.  Swab little clove oil to a piece of cotton and place it on the affected tooth to dull your senses.

There are plenty of remedies that can make you feel comfortable without having to sit up at night or go prowling around the house the entire night. You need not become too stressed-out  or fear the tooth-ache because help is at hand with home remedies around the corner.

Wheatgrass has a numbing effect on the affected tooth and its antibacterial properties prevent tooth-decay and relieves pain. Wheatgrass can also be used as a mouthwash. Just chew on a piece of wheatgrass to remove toxins from the gums and minimize bacteria growth and help the infected region to heal.

Guava leaves also work in dulling the tooth-ache from gaining prominence by chewing on the leaves till the time the juice penetrates the area of decay and relieves the pain. Boiling guava leaves in water and adding salt to the solution can have a handy mouthwash ready.

You can also chew on garlic to ease the pain to the teeth or place sliced pieces on the affected tooth with the only source of worry being garlic-laced breath. Garlic pieces help children especially with pain in the wisdom teeth extractions.

An Over-the-Top medication in the history of dentistry is that doctors prescribe medication to counter the pain. A pill in the form of acetaminophen for children and adults can take their pick from over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, like Ibuprofen.

The dental pain also leverages itself in the form of an abscess that is when the tooth gets surrounded by pus which can target the children and the elderly. A specialist or specifically an Endodontist can save your tooth and save you from the intolerable pain. If the abscess is small to about less than 1cm, placing warm compresses can help your abscess from becoming worse.

At the dental clinic, tooth extraction, tooth fillings, root canal procedure is performed to save the tooth from the searing pain. An antibiotic is prescribed if the swelling in the jaw is present. These steps are taken immediately to put off the pain of the patient and reconstructive steps to save the tooth at a later stage.

Another common problem is the exposed nerve endings in the tooth which can cause severe pain. The exposed nerve gets infiltrated when you eat something and you feel piercing pain. An exposed nerve may create dental cavities. Home remedies include garlic, clove oil, and salt are used in preventing searing pain from affecting the individual.
